Patterns: Woven Inspirations


 
 
The inspiration from these quilt patterns has come from traditional American and Canadian coverlets and woven patterns. All are available as either e-patterns that I will email you in PDF form, or as printed paper patterns that I mail to you. You may pay using a credit card or PayPal account.


 
Sun Spot
This is a strip pieced block and sashing design that goes together easily if care is taken to sew the rows accurately.  The blocks are 12".  A bonus runner can be made from the extra strip sets.












     

Cascading Triangles
Charm Squares are used to make half square and quarter square triangles for a simple to assemble table runner, with or without borders.  12" x 33" or 18" x 39"






            


Star Sparkle
Inspired by an antique quilt, this wall hanging is made with half square and quarter square triangles.  The 12" blocks are set together with sashing.  51" x 51"













Malaysian Medley
With art panels or large prints and a little piecing this wall hanging is an easy project that goes together quickly.h art panels or large print.  The panels used in the sample are from Turtle Hand Batiks.  36" x 36"












Cross of Promise
A rainbow of fabrics and pieced rows of rectangles go together easily to make this wall hanging.  25" x 31"


















Crackle
Three strip pieced 6" blocks are combined to make this throw.  It goes together easily yet has a complicated look to it.  40" x 52"








     
 
Radiant Beams Nativity
A quick a
nd easy wall hanging made with fusible machine applique.  Finished size:  12" x 14"





    
  



Love Light
 A quick and easy wall hanging can be made by stitching fusible applique through all layers to applique and quilt  in one easy step.  A quick decoration or gift.  Finished size:  11" x 13"  Skill level:  accomplished beginner, familiar with fusible applique technique.












Star Bright
After piecing the borders, the fusible applique is then stitched through all the layers to applique and quilt in one easy step.  The small wall hanging can then be displayed on a wire stand.  Finished size:  12" x 14"












Queen's Crown
Large 19" blocks and pieced sashing go together easily to make this bed quilt. Kaleidoscope centers add interest.  Finished size:  91" x 115"  Skill level: intermediate, familiar with strip piecing.












Posy Wreath
A combination of traditional applique and English paper piecing gives this antique inspired design a fresh new look.  Finished size: 40"x 50"  Skill level: accomplished beginner, familiar with applique and EPP techniques.












Stardust
The 16 1/2"  blocks are made of units that are easily assembled into blocks.  When set next to each other they create a secondary design.  Directions are given for both a wall hanging and a bed quilt.  Finished size:  52" x 52"  and 92" x 108"












Shetland Cross
Made of strip pieced units which then form blocks, this design goes together easily with sashing between the blocks.  It was inspired by a coverlet made of Shetland yarn.  Finished size:87" x 102"












             
Summer Stars
A strip pieced block and sashing design that goes together easily if care is taken to sew the rows accurately. Directions are given for a wall hanging or a bed size quilt.  The design was inspired by a woven coverlet.  Finished size:  56" x 56" and 89" x 111"


 










Woven Cross Mini
With careful strip piecing this small hanging can be quickly and easily made with small amounts of fabric.  It will fit on a display stand and finishes 11"x14".












Brick Pathways
Using a strip pieced rectangle block, this throw is quick and easy to make.  It uses 20 identical blocks and finishes 48"x68".  The 30"x42" wall hanging is made with 9 blocks.












Diamond Delight
A variation of the traditional Storm at Sea, the look of this quilt can be varied with the color placement.  Two variations are given in two sizes, 48"x48" and 48"x66".

Framed Star
Using four repeats of a large print fabric makes an easy kaleidoscope center for these stars.  Two sizes are given, a 62"x62" wall hanging and a 96"x111" bed quilt.












 Woven Cross

Strip piecing makes this an easy wall hanging to make the wall hanging easy to piece.  The design was inspired by a section of an overshot coverlet.  Finished size is 24"x36"










Desert Diamonds

This design has strip pieced blocks and sashing that goes together easily if care is taken to sew the rows accurately.  The design was inspired by a woven coverlet.  Directions are given for a throw and a bed size quilt.  The finished size is 59"x59" for the throw and 89"x116" for the bed size.








Snow Blossom
Inspired by a Norwegian tapestry, this block can be cut using the AccuQuiltGo! dies or templates.  Finished size:  28"x28" wall hanging or 40"x48" throw.














 
Woven Ribbons
This strip pieced design was inspired by a woven coverlet.  The color placement gives the illusion of woven ribbons.












 
Blossom Chain
This is a multi sized pattern.  The blossoms in this design are cut from fat quarters.  The design was inspired by a section of a woven coverlet. 
Finished size:  48"x48" wall hanging, 48"x70" throw and 94"x116" queen size bed quilt















Winter
Star
This design was inspired by a table runner.  The star points can be made with a tri-rec ruler or with the template given in the pattern.

Winding Waves

Inspired by a weaving pattern, this 12-inch block can be arranged in a variety of ways to create several different designs.

King's Puzzle

King’s Puzzle was inspired by a weaving made in Virginia in the mid 1700’s.

Appalachian Chain
This design was inspired by a 1700s Virginia coverlet. A combination of pre-cut strips and yardage is used to make the quilt. It is strip-pieced and goes together easily. The two colors for the sashing are designed to enhance the  woven look.

English Rose Garden

This traditional coverlet design was inspired by a weaving draft from Nova Scotia made in the late 1800’s. Both blocks are the same but appear very different because of the color placement.

Fields 
and Fences
This design was inspired by the Bronson Lace weave structure. It is constructed with three easily stripped pieced blocks that combine to give the look of a traditional woven coverlet.

Chariot Wheels
Inspired by a woven coverlet of the same name, this design is strip pieced and goes together easily using 13" finished blocks together with sashing.  Changes in color placement create the border effect.

This is a multi sized pattern.  The design was inspired by an antique coverlet made in Virginia.

the Square
